The board top is made from solid cherry with a walnut and ash border, while the bow tie in the center is constructed from wood taken from an old Coney Island bench. As we cascade from the top, two drawers are placed as housing for the white and black pieces. The white pieces reside in the drawer with the white oak face and the black pieces reside in the drawer with the Wenge face. Both drawers are made using hand cut dovetails and each knob was hand turned. The corners of the middle section were given three decorative walnut splines!
